It all begins with an idea and the curiosity to learn to fly. Always Time To Fly’s founder was eight years old when he first fell in love with hot air balloons. His uncle put the wide-eyed young boy into the basket and ascended into the beautiful New Mexico sky. At fourteen he began learning the ropes as a chase crew member. Waking up early to help others sail through the winds. He took each day as an opportunity to learn more about this incredible sport. He took his next steps in his hot air ballooning journey when he earned his private pilot license.

That’s when he discovered that this was a sport he wanted to share with the world! At Fort Lewis College he entered into the Hawk Tank Competition. He presented a business plan to launch Always Time To Fly. He developed an opportunity to take this sport and create an unforgettable passenger experience. One that won and created the seed money to launch Always Time To Fly.

Tristan MacLean is now a licensed commercial pilot. He never lost his passion for hot air ballooning and is still just as excited to explore cities from the sky as he was when he was eight. Always Time To Fly looks forward to showing passengers that hot air ballooning isn’t just a checkbox on your bucket list. It’s an experience to see the world from a new perspective.
